AAA recycles car batteries year round but this week those batteries are adding a little something extra to our Earth.

For every battery recycled by AAA Roadside Service or AAA Auto Repair, AAA will plant a tree in a National Forest. Though Earth Day is officially celebrated tomorrow, April 22nd, the AAA campaign runs April 17-23rd

"No one is happy when their battery fails but this makes that bad situation a bit better. Our members really seem to appreciate the opportunity to give a little something back" says AAA spokesperson Amy Parmenter. "Being able to help our members and help the Earth at the same  time is a win-win".

AAA expects to plant more than 2500 trees as part of the campaign with donations being made through the Arbor Day Foundation.

NO BATTERY?? NO PROBLEM!

If you don’t have a car or if your battery is still good to go, you can still participate in the AAA Tree Planting program.

AAA members can visit any of our stores this week (through Earth Day) and donate a dollar toward planting a tree. So far this week, our members have made donations to plant more than 750 trees!

AAA has participated in this National AAA program for the last eight years; the count will be over 8,400 trees at the end of this year’s campaign!

Every Day is Earth Day at AAA

Environmental responsibility is standard operating procedure for the AAA Battery Service programs. The auto club first began its mobile battery recycling efforts in 1997, and last year, recycled approximately 1.75 million batteries nationally.

Research shows automobile batteries have “a 98 percent to 99 percent recycling rate.”

AAA in the greater Hartford area is committed to doing business with respect for the environment year round.  Our tow fleet was the first in the country to convert its trucks to propane.
