October 8, 2019 – Sooner fans, hopeful about Saturday’s score in the Red River Showdown, superstitiously look at signs of all kinds – even those at gas stations! This year, if those comparisons are an indicator, it’s going to be neck-and-neck. According to AAA, today’s Oklahoma gas prices average just 2 cents higher per gallon than those in Texas - $2.33 in Oklahoma versus $2.31 in Texas.
Similarly to the football teams, both states are in the Top 10 in the nation for lowest gas prices. Gas prices this week last year averaged 40 cents more per gallon across the nation.
“Before heading to Dallas, AAA urges fans to get their vehicles travel ready with checks of tires and all vehicle systems to avoid unexpected breakdowns in heavy traffic,” said Leslie Gamble, AAA Oklahoma spokesperson.
At these AAA’s Car Care, Insurance and Travel Centers, free battery, tire and fluid inspections will be offered through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.,
- 6163 N. May in OKC, (405) 753-9777
- 1701 S. Broadway in Edmond, (405) 348-8281
Appointments are requested. Those living outside the OKC metro area are urged to use reputable AAA-approved auto repair shops with staff who are certified automotive repair technicians.
Motorists can find current gas prices along their routes to Dallas with the free AAA Mobile app. The app can also be used to map a route, find discounts, book a hotel and access AAA roadside assistance.
