TOWSON, MD (October 31, 2018) – Just in time for winter car care preparation and the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, AAA Mid-Atlantic will open the AAA Abingdon Car Care Insurance and Travel Center on Monday, November 5.

Joining the auto club’s 12 other Maryland locations (Annapolis, Brandywine, Columbia, Crofton, Frederick, Gaithersburg, Glen Burnie, Laurel, Rockville, Timonium, Towson, and White Marsh), the new AAA Car Care Insurance and Travel Center is located at:

The nearly 9,000 square foot facility of new construction features eight automotive bays and employs 20 AAA Mid-Atlantic associates. Built on vacant land at an approximate cost of $2.2 million, the new store is located near the Boulevard Shopping Center.

With the opening of this new facility, AAA Mid-Atlantic’s current retail store in Bel Air approximately five miles away will close on Friday, November 2.

While the new store provides all of the regular services that auto club members have come to expect from AAA’s retail offices, the difference is that Car Care Insurance and Travel Centers also offer car care services, which will be available to non-members as well, although AAA members will enjoy a lower price with a discount on repair labor.

With the opening of the Abingdon location, AAA Car Care Insurance and Travel Centers will now total 39 in AAA Mid-Atlantic’s service area, which includes Maryland, Washington D.C., Delaware, and parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. AAA Mid-Atlantic opened its first Car Care Insurance and Travel Center in Frederick in April 2011.

“AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Car Care Insurance and Travel Centers are open to members and non-members as a one-stop shop for automotive repair, travel and insurance,” said Chris Storms, AAA’s Car Care District Director. “With the Thanksgiving holiday travel period just weeks away, the Car Care Center a timely addition for pre-road trip vehicle checkups and travel preparations.”

For more than 110 years, AAA has been a trusted and reliable source for emergency roadside assistance for over 59 million members nationwide. This expansion of AAA services is a natural fit for an organization that assists thousands of motorists every day and serves nearly four million members in the Mid-Atlantic region.

AAA Car Care Insurance and Travel Center services include maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs such as tires, brakes, tune-ups, air conditioning and cooling systems, battery replacements, and electrical work.

As part of AAA’s partnership with the ride-share company Lyft, the Abingdon Car Care Center can schedule complimentary Lyft rides for automotive services customers traveling to or from the store. Customers do not need the Lyft app or a smartphone. AAA is introducing these ride share resources in response to member demand for access to quick, hassle-free transportation while their vehicle is being serviced. The complimentary Lyft ride is available at all 13 Maryland AAA Car Care Centers.
