Full Teen Driver Education Program

Our Connecticut Full Teen Program goes beyond the State's minimum licensing requirements for applicants age 16-17. The course includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel driving lessons with a licensed driving instructor in a AAA Driving School vehicle. Students must be age 16 prior to the start of class and must hold a valid Learner's Permit before in-car driving lessons begin. Teen 8-Hour Safe Driver Program

This program fulfills the State's minimum licensing requirements for applicants age 16-17, including those who receive home training. Curriculum includes the required 4 hours of drug and alcohol training. Additional content covers state driving laws from statutory provisions to enforcement, the dangers of teenage driving, cognitive development, the responsibilities and liabilities of parents of teenage drivers, and more. Adult 8-Hour Safe Driving Program

Online RoadWise Driver for Seniors

Learn at your own pace with this 4-hour online version of our Mature Driver Improvement classroom program. Content covers a range of defensive driving topics including age-based changes, managing one’s medications, causes of senior crashes and ways to avoid them, and extending your safe driving career.

As a DMV-approved accident prevention course, AAA’s Online RoadWise Driver course meets State requirements for an auto insurance discount in the State of Connecticut.

Mature Driver Improvement Program

A state-approved refresher course designed for seasonal drivers, our AAA Roadwise Driver curriculum addresses natural age-based changes, managing one's medications, adjusting habits to reduce risk, and the value of planning for ongoing mobility. Also addressed is causes of senior collisions as well as useful tips, proven methods, and practical knowledge for seniors to use while driving. Driving Skills Assessment

Designed for licensed drivers, the skills assessment is conducted in a specially-equipped dual-brake vehicle by a state-certified AAA Driving Instructor. While the client drives a pre-determined route, the instructor observes and evaluates the applicant's driving skill and habits, identifies strengths and weaknesses, and makes suggestions for improvement where necessary. In-Car Parent Coaching Session

Teaching your teen to drive can be challenging, even for the most skilled drivers. During this one-on-one in-car session, a AAA Driving Instructor will share strategies and instructional techniques to help you be a more effective coach for your student driver. To register call 1-800-594-0346.

Driver Testing Services

AAA partners with the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles to offer road testing services to teens age 16-21. All road tests are conducted by a DMV Inspector. A driving test generally evaluates a range of driving factors, from safe condition of the test vehicle to driving skills and maneuverability. AAA Driving School can help you prepare. How to Drive Online

Get the same high-quality driver training you'd expect from our classroom program with this robust online program. Building on the core content of AAA's How To Drive classroom curriculum, AAA's How to Drive Online features additional resources including interactive exercises, ongoing learning assessments, and videos including in-vehicle clips of teen drivers experiencing real-life crashes. StartSmart Online Parent Session

It's no secret that parents play a critical role in the learning-to-drive process. AAA has developed an online course for parents of teens who are, or soon will be, learning to drive. This 2-hour online program draws on AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety research to prepare you to navigate your teen's driving experience. From explaining the licensing process and the parent role in reinforcing what your teen is learning in driver education to maximizing practice driving with your teen, this program covers the essential elements of safe driving in an interactive and innovative way.

Texting and Driving Experience

This hands-on program shows drivers the dangers of texting and driving under a controlled situation. Conducted on a closed course in a specially-equipped dual-brake vehicle under the guidance of a AAA Driving Instructor, a driver attempts to read and respond to text messages while maintaining control of the vehicle.
